SUBMARINE ESCAPE EQUIPMENT (SEE) PANEL MEETING

The 2010 NATO Submarine Escape Equipment (SEE) users panel meeting was held at the Submarine Escape Training Tank (SETT) in Gosport, UK. UK SMERAS hosted this year's event.

This is an important meeting where NATO and partner nations can discuss trials, new products/services and on-going issues within the SMER community.

For industry, the SEE panel meeting is an opportunity to present to delegates and sponsor an evening event where discussions can continue and any problems can be resolved. New products can be showcased and all the presentations given are incorporated in the Submarine Escape and Rescue Working Group (SMERWG) Conference to be held in May 2010. Whilst the SEE panel is quite a small meeting, it's findings are reported in depth at the SMERWG (around 32 nations) which makes it a unique opportunity for Industry to promote themselves and their products.

Wednesday 27th January started with an early presentation by Survitec and this was followed by a fast-moving day of a further 13 presentations which included a demonstration of the Hyperlite Hyperbaric Stretcher. The opportunity to present at the SEE Panel Meeting benefits both contractors and delegates as new products can be platformed and in-service equipment discussed.

The social side of the SEE panel is where everyone can relax and discuss submarine escape equipment in more depth. Sonistics is always pleased to arrange the Receptions/Buffets to support the conference and this year was no exception. Being held in one of our favourite venues, SETT, it was like arranging a family party! Many thanks to Mac, Paddy and Gillian for all their hard work on the night and to Paddy for his assistance with the logistics of the Industry presentation day.
